HOUSTON (CBS Houston) Reports indicate that Oklahoma City Thunder all-star Kevin Durant has signed to Roc Nation Sports, the new agency spearheaded by hip hop mogul Jay-Z and the move is being seen as one that will propel both Jay-Z and Durant forward.
Born Shawn Carter, Jay-z recently launched the agency with the Creative Artist Agency’s sports division.
RollingStone.com reports that “Hova” sees the signing of Durant as a great endeavor: “He has a 90.5 free throw shooting rate, the youngest player in NBA history to join the 50-40-90 club, a giving individual and a legend in the making,” Jay-Z said in a statement. “What more can I say?”‘ as stated on the website.
RollingStone.com also added additional details of Durant: “A basketball standout since his high school days, Durant was drafted by the Seattle Supersonics in 2007 after one year of college ball at the University of Texas. The Sonics relocated to Oklahoma a year later, renaming themselves the Thunder, and Durant has continued to thrive: He’s a three-time All-Star, took home three consecutive scoring championships and one a gold medal with the USA basketball team at the 2012 Olympics.”
Kevin Durant has played the small forward and power forward positions for the Thunder and has also been a three-time NBA scoring champion, the NBA Rookie of the Year, and an Olympic gold medalist.
