HOUSTON (CBS Houston) As the Houston Fire Department continues to deal with the grief of losing four of its dedicated firefighters, they are hoping you will be apart of a benefit that will aid another one of their own, Captain Bill Dowling, as he continues to recover from that fatal fire.

Captain Dowling was critically injured while battling the fateful blaze in Southwest Houston on May 31. As a result of his injuries, Capt. Dowling’s legs were amputated and he continues to recover in critical condition. Capt. Dowling’s extended family at the Houston Fire Department realizes that Dowling has a long road of recovery in front of him and are looking to assist Dowling’s wife and three children as they too endure a long road of recovery themselves.

To help with Dowling, local firefighters, friends and family are sponsoring the “Breakfast For Bill” benefit which not only includes a pancake breakfast, but a silent auction, a raffle, music, a car & bike show and other fun and festive events.

“Breakfast For Bill” will be held July 20, 2013 at Wolfies located at 22522 State Highway 249 in Houston. Fire trucks and firefighters from neighboring departments will also be on hand to assist with the fun and celebrate Dowling and send him love and support as he continues to recover.

All of the proceeds collected from the “Breakfast For Bill” benefit will go directly to Dowling’s family. So come on out, eat delicious pancakes, have a great time, dance the day away and take part in a great day, knowing that you are helping a dedicated HFD firefighter!
