HOUSTON (CBS Houston) Fort Bend County Sheriff’s deputies investigated an incident involving a 19-year-old lifeguard over the weekend.
That lifeguard drowned Saturday afternoon in a pool at the neighborhood recreational center where he worked. The victim who was later identified as Dustin Kruthaupt, was found floating in the pool at the Rosewood Recreation Center located on Cinco Terrace Drive shortly before 4 p.m.
Eyewitness accounts stated that Kruthaupt was swimming laps in the pool and, at one point, attempted to swim the entire length of the pool underwater.
After he resurfaced, he began to float. Other lifeguards saw that he was floating and then jumped in the water in attempts to save him.
They pulled Kruthaupt out and immediately began CPR on him.
Despite failed attempts from others and medical personnel, doctors pronounced him dead about 5:15 p.m.
There was no other information released at the time of this report.
