HOUSTON (CBS Houston) According to officials with the Houston Police Department, charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the death of an infant back on March 5.
“The suspect, Habibo Ibrahim, is charged with injury to a child and reckless injury to a child,” added officials.
“The female victim, Honay Buwa, 11 months, suffered severe burns and was pronouced dead at the scene. An autopsy by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences determined the infant girl died as a result of an acetaminophen overdose.”
HPD Homicide Division officials also added additional details of the alleged crimes: “Baby Buwa was found dead on March 5. Further investigation determined she had suffered severe burns on March 1. How those burns occurred is not clear, however, a homemade cocoa butter salve had been applied to them. Investigators found several discarded extra strength acetaminophen capsule casings in both the girl’s room and the kitchen. Statements and evidence indicates the cocoa butter salve had been mixed with the contents of the acetaminophen capsules, resulting in the infant’s death.” Upon further investigation charges were filed against the baby’s mother, Ibrahim.
