Houston Firefighter Hurt After Being Hit By Former NFL Player

HOUSTON (CBS Houston) Reports indicate that a Houston firefighter was hurt after an SUV driven by a former NFL player crashed into the back of a firetruck in southwest Houston.

Officials were investigating the scene after the fire truck was found with its lights and sirens on around 2:00 a.m. Monday morning. The firefighter was helping a disabled motorist, when the driver of a black Range Rover crashed into the back of the fire truck. That driver was identified as former NFL player Brian Iwuh.

Twenty-nine-year-old Iwhu a Houston native, attended the University of Colorado and played for the Jacksonville Jaguars, Chicago Bears and Denver Broncos.

Further reports indicated that Iwhu was trapped and had to be cut out of his vehicle. He was then transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital.

One firefighter was hurt and was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.

There were no other details released at the time of this report.
