HOUSTON (CBS Houston) – Super Bowl winning safety Ed Reed could be arriving in Houston in as early as one week, according to Texans head coach Gary Kubiak.
“I had a long conversation with Ed yesterday. He got back to Atlanta on Saturday. He’s in a rehab program there in Atlanta,” Kubiak said Wednesday.
“(Reed) will be back here as we approach the mandatory minicamp and be here for rehab process so you guys should see him in…about a week.”
Next week the nine-time Pro Bowl safety will meet up with his former Ravens’ teammates for a trip to the White House. Players and coaches will also receive their official Super Bowl XLVII rings in a private ceremony June 7. After that, Reed will be headed for Houston.
Despite being in Houston, Reed will not participate in the mandatory Texans minicamp from June 11-13 after completing his rehab. The Texans expect Reed’s return to team activities sometime during training camp which begins July 26.
Reed has been notably absent since signing a three-year, $15-million contract with the Houston Texans March 22. Reed has missed all organized team activities and minicamps since having hip surgery in April for a torn labrum.
