Rice Alum Inks Contract With 49ers

HOUSTON (CBS Houston) - Rice alum Vance McDonald signed a four-year deal with the San Francisco 49ers reportedly worth $3.599 million with a signing bonus just under $1 million. McDonald (6-4, 267) was drafted in the second-round of the NFL draft with the 55th overall pick. He will compete to fill the vacancy left by Delanie Walker, whom the 49ers lost to free agency this offseason.
McDonald had a career 120 receptions for 1,513 yards and 15 touchdowns at Rice University, tying Kenneth Roy for fifth place for career touchdown receptions.
