HOUSTON (CBS Houston) A man was fatally shot in southwest Houston while behind the wheel of a car; officials are now on the hunt for the suspect or the suspects involved in the shooting.
Investigators say the shooting happened in the early morning hours of Thursday. A man believed to be in his late 20s or early 30s was driving westbound on Bissonnet in a gold Buick LeSabre. At approximately 1 a.m., he was then intercepted by another car.
As he approached the intersection of Bissonnet and Cook Road, several vehicles surrounded his car and several shots were fired into the man’s car.
After the gun shots, the victim accelerated, and then hit a utility pole and came to rest near a Citgo Gas station.
Individuals at a bar nearby heard the gun shots and the crash and ran to help. They then pulled the man out of his car and CPR was performed on him. Medical units were dispatched to provide assistance but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
As police piece details of the shooting together, they are looking for the suspect or the suspects responsible for the shooting as well as a red Dodge Magnum and a grey and black Cadillac that may have been involved in the shooting.
As a result of officials’ investigation, all westbound lanes of Bissonnet were closed Thursday morning. No time was given as to when the lanes would reopen.
