HOUSTON (CBS Houston) Oklahoma City Thunder star Kevin Durant has pledged $1 million for tornado relief through his family foundation.

In an announcement made on Tuesday, reports stated that the American Red Cross will match the gift made from The Durant Family Foundation and it is the hope that the endeavor will be incentive for more people to give.

Red Cross’ regional CEO Janienne Bella said the organization was thankful for Durant’s gift.

In terms of helping those affected by the tornadoes, the Red Cross is accepting $10 pledges from people who text “REDCROSS” to 90999. Donations can also be made by visiting the Red Cross website.
