HOUSTON (CBS Houston) On Friday, officials with the Houston Police Department released the most stolen vehicles for the month of April, according to car theft reports filed.

HPD officers remind residents to practice safety and intuitiveness when parking their cars and leaving them in public places.

Valuables should not be left in the car and if they are, should not be in plain sight.

Also, parking in well lit areas is also ideal to decrease the chances of car theft. Suspicious activity should be reported and vigilance should be paramount when driving on Houston streets.

The following is a rundown of the “Top Ten” makes of vehicles reported stolen to the Houston Police Department during the month of April 2013, as stated from officials with HPD:

1. Ford Trucks 166
2. Chevrolet Trucks 155
3. Honda Cars 87
4. Dodge Trucks 77
5. GMC Trucks 41
6. Toyota Cars 40
7. Ford Cars 36
8. Nissan Cars 32
9. Chevrolet Cars 31
10. Cadillac Trucks 19
