HOUSTON (CBS Houston) As President Barack Obama prepares to head to the Lone Star State, jobs is on his agenda.
resident Obama continues to keep his focus on job creation and is hitting the road with that focus, taking a series of trips around the country to resurrect and implement ideas from his State of the Union address that highlight employment. Much of his focus has been debates over gun control, immigration and spending cuts.
On Thursday, Obama had a scheduled trip to Austin. His address to the crowd was expected to discuss attracting jobs, providing skills, training and schooling for employment.
Last Friday’s jobs report revealed that the unemployment rate had dropped to a four-year low of 7.5 percent in April and employers had added 165,000 jobs. The report also indicated that far more jobs were added in in February and March than previously thought.
President Obama had a scheduled visit to Manor New Tech High School near Austin this week, where the curriculum of the school is a science, technology, math and engineering themed curriculum.
