Rockets Coach Sampson To Interview With Bucks Thursday

HOUSTON (CBS Houston) – Houston Rockets assistant coach Kelvin Sampson will be interviewing for a head coaching job with the Milwaukee Bucks on Thursday, according to league sources.  Sampson was assistant coach for the Bucks until 2011 when he joined the Rockets organization.  Sampson stepped up as interim head coach for 13 games when Kevin McHale took a leave of absence this season.

“I hope Kelvin gets the job. I know Kelvin’s goal is to be head coach.  As much as I would miss him and I really rely on Kelvin a lot: great guy, good friend, great coach.  That’s his goal,” McHale said in his exit interview Tuesday.

“He would be a tremendous head coach so I would just wish him all the best.”

Other teams reportedly interested in interviewing Sampson include the Philadelphia 76ers and the Charlotte Bobcats.
