HOUSTON (CBS Houston) – The 8-24 Astros may not have played on Monday, but the organization made some roster moves after being outscored 37-8 in their series against the Detroit Tigers over the weekend.

General Manager Jeff Luhnow announced that outfielder Trevor Crowe, outfielder J.D. Martinez, and infielder/outfielder Jimmy Paredes will join the Astros Major League club on Tuesday, before the 7:10 p.m. game at Minute Maid Park against the Los Angeles Angels.  Crowe was selected from Triple A Oklahoma City where he was batting .300 with two homers, 14 RBI and a club-best 11 stolen bases in 29 games, which ranked second in the Pacific Coast League.  J.D. Martinez, 25, had been on the DL since April 20 due to a right knee sprain.  He  hit .300 in five games while on a rehab assignment at Corpus Christi (AA) with a home run, five RBI and a .550 slugging pct.  As of Monday, Paredes, 24, was hitting a club-best .376 in 29 games at OKC, which ranked 5th in the PCL.

Outfielders Rick Ankiel and Fernando Martinez have been designated for assignment while infielder Brandon Laird has been optioned to OKC.
