HOUSTON (CBS Houston) Saturday marks Kentucky Derby Day where the best of the best thoroughbreds compete in the most anticipated derby of the year.

Despite a rain-soaked track and being deemed “sloppy”, rollers are being used in an attempt to keep the surface from turning too loose and muddy, causing uncontrollable conditions for Saturday’s race. Officials hope that the rolling process  will prove beneficial, despite area forecasters calling for more rain Saturday afternoon.

The televised derby is scheduled to begin at 6:24 p.m., EST.  Click here to check the official Kentucky Derby website,  for the 2013 Kentucky Derby Live Odds as of 4:51 EST.

On Friday, consensus of experts’ picked “Orb” as the favorite, with “Revolutionary”, “Goldencents”, “Itsmyluckyday”, and “Normandy Invasion” following.

Saturday marks the 139 Kentucky Derby held at the Churchill Downs, known as the official “Home of the Kentucky Derby”.
