HOUSTON (CBS Houston) A woman is in critical condition after she was hit by a van in northwest Houston. The driver of that vehicle took off after the accident and  police are now searching for that motorist.

The accident happened along Stuebner Airline near FM 2920. Officials stated that the victim and a man were walking from one home to another home around 2: a.m. Wednesday.

As the man continued walking closest to the road, a motorist in a van lost control of that van and then veered off the road. The driver missed the man, but did hit the woman.

Officials stated that after the motorist was aware that he hit an individual with his van, he stopped the van as if to go and check on who he had just hit. He checked on the female who was injured and then got back into his van and drove off.

The female victim, believed to be in her 20s, was taken by Life Flight to Memorial Hermann Hospital in critical condition. The man walking with her was not injured.

Harris County Sheriff’s authorities are now seeking the motorist who was driving a white van at the time of the accident. They are also asking that anyone who has information that can help them in their search for the driver to call them.
