HOUSTON (CBS Houston) A Harris County Sheriff’s Office deputy shot and killed a robbery suspect at a gas station located in northwest Harris County, on Highway 249, according to officials.
Authorities with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office stated that the shooting happened at a Stripes store on Tomball Parkway just north of Breen Drive early Monday
Just before 2 a.m., a deputy responded to a call about a traffic hazard created by a parked vehicle. Upon arrival, the deputy found the car parked in the roadway in front of the store.
The official then went in the store and found the suspect holding a female employee by the throat with a male clerk standing against a wall.
The suspect was ordered to stop and show his hands. Instead of following the orders that were given to him, the man became aggressive with deputy and reached into his pocket, as if to pull out a weapon. The deputy fired his gun once, shooting and killing the suspect. The deputy was not injured.
Additional reports indicate that there were no customers inside of the store at the time of the incident. Both the male and the female store clerks who were inside were not injured.
Officials are investigating the incident.
