HOUSTON (CBS Houston) - The Seattle Seahawks drafted Aggie running back Christine Michael with the 62nd overall pick, the last pick in the second round. Michael, 5-11 and 220 pounds, had a career stats at A&M of 34 rushing touchdowns, and 5.3 yards/rush. Michael also logged 44 receptions, averaging 7.3 yards/reception. The Beaumont native, who played four seasons at College Station, scored 2 touchdowns in the Aggies’ 29-24 win over first-ranked Alabama
Michael’s performance at the Combine dazzled scouts with a 43-inch vertical leap, the best ever by a running back. His bench press was fourth among running backs and his broad jump tied for second at 10 feet and 5 inches. Michael’s success was marred by character questions as he missed two NFL meetings and was suspended for the second game of the 2012 season for a violation of team rules. His stock rose as a result of his Combine performance and therefore, he opted not to work out at Texas A&M’s pro day.
