HOUSTON (CBS Houston) The city of Houston is a metropolis for a multitude of reasons. Now the city can stake the claim as being the most “walkable city” in the state of Texas.

According to WalkScore.com , the city of Houston was named the most pedestrian-friendly large city in Texas. With amenities available within .25 miles of any given address, Houston earned the No. 23 spot in the United States  for “walkability” (if you please).

Other Texas cities that made the list included Dallas at No. 30, Austin at No. 31 and San Antonio at No. 40. El Paso even took the No. 44 spot on the list while Fort Worth came in at number 47.

Despite its  mild weather, and wonderfully manicured parks, Houston trailed behind cities such as New York, (which earned the No. 1 spot) Chicago, Boston and Philadelphia.

Houston is the fourth most populous city in the United States of America and the most populous city in the state of Texas.
