Young Boy Killed In Boston Marathon Bombings Is Identified

CICELY MITCHELL, CBS Houston

HOUSTON (CBS Houston) The youngest causality of the Boston Marathon blasts has been identified. According to the Boston Globe, eight-year-old Martin Richard died as a result of the bombings near the Boston Marathon’s finish line on Monday.

Additional reports indicate that the young boy was at the event to cheer his father who was a participant in the race.

Both Martin’s mother and 6-year-old sister were recovering in a hospital after suffering serious injuries. Martin’s mother reportedly underwent surgery for an injury to her brain while his young sister lost a leg due to the explosion.

At the time of this report, three people were killed and at least 144 were hospitalized after two bombs exploded near the Boston Marathon’s finish line. At the time of this report, there were no suspects or motive identified.
