Houston wide receiver Andrew Rodriguez has been granted a medical hardship waiver for the 2012-13 season and will receive last season of competition back in terms of eligibility making him a true freshman for the 2013 season.

Rodriguez saw action in the first two games of the 2012 before suffering a season-ending injury resulting in the waiver being granted.

The Allen, Texas, native registered five catches for 82 yards on the year, all coming in Houston’s second game of the year against Louisiana Tech.

As a senior at Allen HS in 2011, Rodriguez hauled in 64 receptions for 1,462 yards and 18 touchdowns to earn Associated Press FirstTeam All-State honors and honorable mention Sports Illustrated All-America honors.
