Mother Charged After Girl Left Home Alone
HOUSTON (CBS Houston) A mother in southwest Houston is facing serious charges, after allegedly leaving a four-year-old girl with a medical condition alone. The child was discovered, hooked up to a breathing machine as well as another machine.
Authorities discovered the young girl Thursday around 1 p.m. at an apartment complex the 9700 block of Court Glen Drive. They were there to serve an eviction notice and discovered the girl.
The mother who is being held the Harris County Jail on a child endangerment charge, told authorities she left her young disabled daughter alone to go shopping.
The Harris County Precinct 5 Constable’s Office stated that one of its deputies came to the apartment of the woman to serve an eviction notice. It was then that he discovered a young girl alone in her crib attached to both breathing and feeding machines.
When officials were able to make their way to the young girl, they found her unresponsive.
The mother arrived a short time later back from her shopping trip, with another child and said she had gone to the store. The disabled child was taken to the hospital for treatment and observation.
Relatives took custody of two other young children, ages 1 and 3. Child Protective services was also working with officials in the case.
As of 10 p.m. Thursday, the young girl who was found alone was still in the hospital. The mother’s name was not released at the time of this report.
