HOUSTON (CBS Houston) Authorities are investigating after a suspicious envelope was found at a Houston school.
According to Houston Independent School Officials, the envelope was sent to Franklin Elementary and was discovered on Friday. The envelope was not opened.
The FBI, Houston Fire Department and HISD police collaboratively investigated the incident and quarantined the school’s mailroom.
The school has seen three suspicious envelopes this school year with the first two containing a powdery substance. One envelope was found on March 6 and another one was found on December 21. It was later determined that the power was harmless.
As the investigation continues into Friday’s incident, it is was not clear at the time of this report, if investigators believed that the same person mailed all of the envelopes.
HISD officials further stated that a letter will be sent home to parents explaining Friday’s events. Classes on the school’s campus continued as normal.
