By: CICELY MITCHELL

HOUSTON (CBS Houston) According to Houston police, a man who was high on PCP led them on a chase in southwest Houston early Tuesday.

The chase began in the early morning hours of Tuesday when a HPD unit was traveling westbound on the South Loop near Stella Link around 12:20 a.m.

Officers then spotted a Jeep weaving back and forth erratically and attempted to pull over the driver.

After the driver refused to stop, he sped off and then exited S. Braeswood; the motorist also ran several red lights.

During the pursuit, the driver then slowed his vehicle and then came to a complete stop on a curb and put the SUV in park. That driver was then taken into custody immediately.

Authorities believe that the driver was under the influence of PCP and was in an altered frame of mind. As a result of Tuesday’s chase, he faces felony charges for evading and DUI. There were no injuries reported, although one officer sustained minor cuts .
