HOUSTON (CBS Houston) A driver has crashed into a bayou and died. The accident happened Saturday night, in east Houston on Cesar Chavez near Avenue W. and  marks the second time in less than two weeks, a driver has fatally crashed into the bayou.

Officers called in the dive team; those divers searched for almost 45 minutes just to find the vehicle.

By the time they located the driver, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police believe that that the man was possibly in his late teens or early 20s and was was likely speeding when he crashed.

Authorities with the Houston Police Department stated that the man failed to control speed, busted through the chain link fence, went airborne and went into the bayou.

As Saturday’s accident marks the second in a span of a month’s time, the last accident in which a driver died after crashing into the bayou happened earlier this month.

A driver was traveling at a high rate of speed when he crashed through the fence of a business in the same location.

That driver’s car went flying into Buffalo Bayou, landed upside down in about 25 feet of water.

Dive teams pulled the victim’s body after discovering the victim’s vehicle.
