HOUSTON (CBS Houston) A local high school student is raising awareness of one disease by uplifting, inspiring and literally helping others ascend to new heights. Lamar High School Student Lizzy Tan is busy organizing the “Dance for Thought: Alzheimer’s Awareness Project” and you are invited!

According to Tan, the event is a show, inspired by real-life events: ” [Dance For Thought is] a charity dance show that has been inspired by [my] memoir of experiences volunteering at an assisted living home,” Tan stated. “The show will feature video elements, spoken word, excerpts from her book, and seven original pieces choreographed by me.”

Tan’s show will be on Sunday, April the 7th at 6:30 in the ERJCC Kaplan Theatre. “Student tickets are $5; adult tickets are $10,” adds Tan. For tickets and presale ticket purchases, click here.

According to Tan, the profits of the show will be donated to the Alzheimer’s Association.
