HOUSTON (CBS Houston) A young boy lost his life after his mother ran a red light while driving, hitting another car and then a pole. The accident happened at the intersection of Uvalde and Highway 90, just after 10 a.m. on Tuesday.
The mother, a 46-year-old woman, was driving a Pontiac. She ran a red light at the intersection and then hit a Scion. The vehicle then spun around and hit a traffic light pole. The 10-year-old boy was then thrown out of the vehicle during the collision.
The young boy who was not reportedly wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident, was ejected from the car and died at the scene. His name was not released at the time of this report.
The woman who was was flown to Memorial Hermann Hospital and listed in critical condition, is expected to survive.
A 32-year-old woman and a 3-year-old child were inside the Scion. That woman and the toddler who were taken to Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital, are expected to survive; the young boy was in a car seat at the time of impact.
The Harris County District Attorney’s Office is investigating the accident and will determine if charges will be filed.
