Authorities: Baby Found; Man In Custody

HOUSTON (CBS Houston) A four-month-old baby was found Tuesday evening after authorities issued an Amber Alert for her. The baby was believed to be abducted by her mother’s estranged boyfriend.
The baby, Stephanie Phillips was allegedly kidnapped by Byron Gee, 32, from the Brays Oaks Apartments located on West Bellfort about 5 a.m. on Tuesday, after getting into an argument with the baby’s mother.
According to the Houston Police Department, Gee is now in custody.
Additional reports reveal that Gee then grabbed the baby after getting into an altercation with the infant’s mother, ran out of the apartment complex, then carjacked a woman.
Gee approached a woman in a white 1999 Ford Expedition and drove off in the stolen SUV; the victim’s purse as well as paycheck were still in the vehicle.
The stolen vehicle was then found at a Red Carpet Inn located on the Gulf Freeway on Tuesday afternoon, but Gee and baby Stephanie were not there.
As hours went by and an Amber Alert was issued for the baby.
Later Tuesday, Galveston police say they found Stephanie Phillips around 8 p.m. alone inside a Galveston hotel room located on Seawall. Although she appeared to be in good health, she was transported to a hospital for examination.
Authorities say her alleged abductor, Byron Gee, fled the hotel but was later found during a search of a nearby neighborhood.
Gee who was taken into custody by Galveston authorities is now being held in Galveston.
