SPRING, Texas (CBS Houston) — A high school assistant principal is accused of having sex with a student at prom.

Spring Independent School District Police say 30-year-old Mark Stevens West, a former assistant principal at Spring High School, had sex with a female student in his office during last year’s prom.

KHOU-TV reports that the student, who has since graduated, told West that she was “horny and wanted to have sex with him” during last May’s prom. Investigators say that’s when they went back to Stevens’ office and had sex.

West denies any sexual acts took place and resigned last Friday. He was originally put on administrative leave when the criminal investigation began.

KTRK-TV reports that school officials previously had concerns with West around female students. He was accused of touching a girl inappropriately on her back but no charges were filed due to lack of evidence. He was also accused of “body slamming” a female student on a couch in a playful manner, according to one staff member.

The staff member told police that she “observed female students exit [West’s] office with their hair and clothing disheveled, and the female students would be smiling and laughing,” according to KTRK.

Court documents reportedly reveal that the alleged sex act between West and the student was videotaped.

Spring High School Principal Donna Ullrich released a statement about the incident.

“I want to assure you that the safety of our students is of the highest importance at Spring High Schoolm” Ullrich said in a statement to KHOU. “The criminal history and references of job applicants are routinely checked before they are hired. The administration at Spring High School takes every allegation seriously and will conduct a thorough investigation and expose inappropriate behavior when necessary.”

West has been charged with improper relationship with a student and was released from custody after posting a $30,000 bond.
