HOUSTON (CBS Houston) Police in Michigan are investigating an incident involving a student and $20,000 in cash. According to reports, the student brought the money to school and passed out money to her fellow classmates.
The 12-year-old girl and her backpack full of cash raised suspicion after that pre-teen was seen giving money to classmates at the 6th Grade Academy Building in Taylor, Michigan on Monday. The young girl reportedly gave one classmate $200 while she offered another $500 in cash.
School officials became aware of the cash offerings from the student and alerted Taylor police.
The girl told the police that she received the money from a friend across the street in her neighborhood.
Police confiscated the cash and will continue to hold it until there is a reasonable explanation provided to them as to why the girl had the money in her backpack. Click here to view additional details.
