HOUSTON (CBS Houston) A former assistant principal accused of having sex with a student, appeared in court Wednesday morning. Thirty-year-old Mark West appeared in front of a judge and was ordered not to contact his accuser, a former high school student who now attends college. During Wednesday’s court proceedings, West proclaimed his innocence.
West has been formerly charged with having an improper relationship with a student while he was an assistant principal at Spring High School.
Court documents indicate that the former female student claims she and West had sex in his office during a prom event in May of 2012.
Upon an investigation into the allegation, authorities revealed that several school personnel at the high school grew suspicious of his behavior.
Additional reports indicate that West’s secretary told investigators she was not comfortable with the substantial amounts of time West spent with female students behind closed doors.
It was also revealed that many of the female students would leave West’s office with their clothing and hair in a disheveled state.
Since the allegation, West has since resigned from his position with Spring ISD and has been on leave during the internal investigation. He remains free on $30,000 bond and is scheduled to appear back in court in April.
