HOUSTON (CBS Houston) Houston police are awaiting autopsy results in the death of an infant. The baby was found at 1243 Bay Area Boulevard just after 7 a.m. Saturday.

According to police, although the one-month-old baby boy suffered no visible signs of trauma, authorities learned of health issues the infant had.

HPD Homicide Division officials added the following: “HPD and HFD emergency personnel were called to the above address following a report of a dead infant. Upon further investigation, police learned the baby had a history of respiratory issues since birth. The mother apparently lay down on the couch with the baby and fell asleep. The father found his infant son unresponsive the next morning.”

Police continue their investigation in the case.
