Overnight Storms Leave Some Texans Without Power
HOUSTON (AP) — Overnight storms that rolled through parts of Texas have left several thousand people without electricity and caused some travel delays.
The National Weather Service says a thunderstorm moved through the Houston area early Sunday. The Trinity River Authority recorded winds of 77 mph on Lake Livingston Dam about 75 miles north of Houston.
Some inbound flights to Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport were delayed but by late Sunday morning normal traffic resumed.
There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
Nearly 2,500 customers of Dallas-based Oncor (ON’-kor) lost power. CenterPoint Energy had about 1,300 customers without electricity in the Houston area and Central Texas.
Forecasters say the Dallas area received nearly 2 inches of rain. Waco had 1.5 inches of precipitation while College Station received 1.2 inches.
