HOUSTON (CBS Houston) According to Harris County Sheriff’s authorities, the search for a missing kayaker continues Sunday.

HCSO officials state that the missing kayaker was last seen Saturday, at a retention pond located at the West Road and Copper Haven in the Copper Lakes Subdivision.

“The missing boater is identified as Ryan Smith 32 years old, 5’11 with brown hair and blue eyes”, added officials with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office. “He was wearing shorts and a white colored t-shirt. He is known to kayak the retention pond and fishes the pond frequently.”

Authorities also stated that Witnesses called the HCSO after finding the kayak next to the shore line. “Deputies from the HCSO Marine unit along with Cy-Fair Fire and Rescue searched the outer area of the pond. The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), helicopter conducted an aerial search of the pond,” added HCSO officials.

The Marine unit divers searched the pond Saturday until lighting conditions were to dark. The search is scheduled to continue Sunday morning when daylight will make conditions more suitable for the search.

Anyone with information about Smith is being asked to call the Harris County Sheriff’s Office at 713-755-7427
