HOUSTON (CBS Houston) Houston Fire Department officials continue their investigation of an apartment fire that began Monday evening.

According to reports, crews responded to a fire located at an apartment complex  located in the 7000 block of Westheimer around 8:30 p.m. Monday. The three-alarm fire was contained around 10 p.m.

Officials believe the fire started in one unit and then grew, causing damage to surrounding units. Authorities stated that winds played a pivotal role in the fire spreading to surrounding apartment homes.

At one point fire crews thought they had contained the fire, but high winds helped spread the fire to additional units.

Firefighters evacuated residents; there were no injuries reported.

Westheimer was closed Monday evening between Stoney Brook Drive and Old Farm Road. Officials continue to investigate the fire and continue their work on finding how the blaze began.
