HOUSTON (CBS Houston) A woman who worked as a security guard at a store was fatally shot by her husband; her husband then committed suicide.
According to reports, the woman was shot while working at the Grocer’s Supply on Holcombe in southwest Houston. Although her killer escaped the scene, authorities believe he later shot and killed himself following a standoff with officers.
The incident began southwest Houston on Saturday after a man drove in an 18-wheeler to Grocer’s Supply at around 4:30pm. He jumped out of the truck with a gun, ran around until he found his wife and then shot her multiple times. She was dead at the scene.
According to eyewitness accounts, the man was brandishing a pistol, chasing one of the security guards.
Officials further state that the man then jumped back into his truck after fatally shooting the woman and then drove to Fort Bend County, where he shot and killed himself.
Police had not identified either person at the time of this report, but it is known that the woman worked for Houston Harris Division Patrol. Additional reports indicate that the woman and the man had a young son.
Police continue to investigate the incident.
