1000 – ARE THE ROCKETS ACTUALLY MORE PRIMED FOR A TITLE THAN THE TEXANS? RANDY HARVEY SAYS YES…I CAN SEE THE ARGUMENT, BUT THE ROCKETS ARE STILL KIND OF BASED ON SPEC (WITHOUT THAT 2ND STAR)
ALSO, I NOTICE THAT HARVEY IS WAY TOO LITERAL WITH HIS ARGUMENTS…FOR EXAMPLE: IF BARWIN LEAVES, THEY *HAVE TO* TAKE A LINEBACKER IN THE FIRST ROUND. REALLY?
1015 – CONTINUE ROCKETS-TEXANS DISCUSSION

Randy Harvey argues that the Rockets are more primed for a title than the Texans –
why do the Texans “have to” draft an OLB if Barwin leaves?
let’s re-set the Howard Eskin comments on Andrew Bynum
also mix-in the Wojnarowski comments about Bynum
We discussed Ben Tate’s injuries today. This article about Football Outsiders’ speed-score makes me nervous about Tate. The speed score accounts for bodyweight when analyzing 40 scores, making fast 40’s at a heavier weight more impressive. Tate is one of 5 highest scoring guys since 2008, and many high scorers have had injury issues. Theory would be that so much force on the joints makes guys injury prone.
we have Dancing with the Stars odds (via Jimmy Shapiro)

Grantland article on the Rockets –
interesting comment from Morey on Josh Smith and 2014
Morey giving credence to his critics was pretty honest
the stats on the Rockets O efficiency are great
“Houston is on pace to average the fewest midrange 2-point shots in recorded NBA history, per both Hoopdata and NBA.com’s stats database.”
I’m going to use this font so I don’t have to sign whatever I write- Job. Pretty freaking amazing. Also, I think I have not given Morey enough credit it for not just bringing in talent but bringing in talent that fits what he believes in and allows McHale to have a very distinctive style. Really if you think about it Morey has made being a GM even more difficult by trying to find players that fit a specific system instead of just acquiring talent and he has done so while consistently winning trades. McHale also deserves credit for buying into Morey’s style and rolling with it.
@sportswatch BTW, New York finished 56th out of 56 major markets in Daytona 500 ratings. Rest of bottom five: SD, Houston, Miami, SF
AUDIO – Jim Boeheim after Marquette loss (starts around 1:45 with a question) –
AUDIO – Deion Sanders claims Tyrann Mathieu is a leader –
Mike Florio breaks down Tom Brady’s deal –
So Brady isn’t a saint. If anything the Pat’s front office deserves credit for being smarter than everybody else. At this point it seems like they are saving themselves enough money to make a real impact on what they can do in FA and they are paying Brady about the same that Schaub is getting paid. Well done Pat’s. Brady now the 9th highest paid QB.
should NFL teams ask if a player likes girls? 713… –
I think a team should be able to, and if they have a question about it they have the responsibility to ask the question. If you know that your team has leaders that are homophobic and you bring in someone that is gay it will absolutely cause problems in the locker room and that hurts your team. As a GM you are trying to put together the best team and part of that is how they relate to each other.
this is a really cool honor of John Harbaugh –
what do we make of this argument by Jason Whitlock? –
I think that if there is a way to make the NFL more gay friendly that would be fantastic. However, I don’t think that an oversight committee is the way to go. Is there an oversight committee for racism? What about every other deplorable thing that NFL players do? You can’t just go around creating random committees for whatever the hot button topic of the day is. There has to be a better way to go about it, I’m just not sure what it is. Also the last line about how an owner/ Comish needs to give a gay guy the key to come out of the closet is ridiculous and slightly demeaning. Gays have come out in virtually every other area of life without someone handing them a key. I understand that this is harder because of the locker room mentality and the fact that it is so public and high pressure but I don’t think that means whoever the first openly gay player is will need Goodell to hold his hand.
the fact that this Revis thing is a story is asinine (Meltsdown) –
the Patriots apparently got sick of Brandon Lloyd –
this salary cap news is good for the Texans –

Kubiak on drafting a QB
This isn’t really breaking new but as far as I know this is the first Kubiak has said about drafting another QB. The way he says it gives me the impression that he doesn’t think Yates is the answer post-Schaub (which I agree with) . In the article they imply that it’ll be a late round draft pick because the other QBs that Smith/Kubiak have drafted were late but that seems like a really dumb take. A) We are in a very different situation than we were for the majority of the time they have been here B) Schaub is getting older and the need to have someone else on this team grows as he ages C) Just because it has happened that way in the past doesn’t mean it is an intentional decision, they easily could have wanted a QB in the 2nd or 3rd round but he just wasn’t on the board at that point.
I’m sure there are 100 other things that can do the exact same thing but Rhapsody has “Job Radio” which just plays all of my music on there at random and it is the single greatest thing ever.
Seems like something Mike might be interested in … really, just glad I’m a white male at this point
Mock draft- I hate that this mock (and many others, this is just the one I grabbed) have changed so much. The combine shouldn’t change your mock draft that much. You are the media, you didn’t interview the players, you didn’t get their medical records, all you did was watch tv and see guys running in a straight line (out of bounds) wearing some quazi ridiculous uniforms (if you ever saw someone wearing that anywhere except for the combine what would you think?). You have three or four years of tape that you can/ have watched which is infinitely more important and what you based your original mock on. This really bothers me because I used to be really big into mock drafts (
) and there are so many people that don’t have good information and act like they do. Either way here is what this guy has
So, I’m officially single now so if you have something that you want to do with it I’m down for whatever.
Moonshine is now legal? I feel like I need to try some
Evan Silva @evansilva
James Laurinaitis’ 2009 Combine: 6017/244, 4.82 40, 4.24 20-yard shuttle. Manti Te’o's 2013 Combine: 6012/241, 4.82 40, 4.27 20-yd shuttle
So the NBA “brawl” was bs. I’m guessing Seth is down with that happening three or four times a year and I’m kinda there too. That’s feistiness that builds camaraderie and can spark a team. Obviously you can’t do that all the time but for one game go for it. The only real mistake is that I saw a Pacer pushing some dude in a suit and you can’t do that but aside from that go for it. Take the T or maybe even a one game suspension if it’s really warranted but go for it, I want that type of emotion.
Prof watches porn at work and gets fired… oh yeah, the students could see it too
So what really bothers me about all of this is the really heavy handed approach that they took to the poll question at the end.
“Should The Onion have apologized for their tweet?
Yes. Calling a 9-year-old girl the worst name you can call a woman is reprehensible, period.
No. They should have stood by their joke, no matter who it offended.
Who the hell is writing the poll question and has anyone ever told them what the purpose of a poll question is? You aren’t supposed to try to persuade the audience into voting one way or another. Terrible job. (While I think the joke shouldn’t have been made and that it was absolutely the wrong thing to do I voted no because I hate the question)
Is it bad that I look at a video, see that is 2 minutes and question whether that is worth my time?
What about a little bit where we break down songs and say what they actually mean. Ex: Flo Rider’s Whistle (
). The song is all about blow jobs but it says “Will you blow my whistle baby, whistle baby, let me know”. So we record the song then insert someone else saying what he actually means so you have Flo Rider saying “Will you blow my whistle” and then with no bed we have someone else saying “meat candy” or “Wanka” and have fun with it, then the song goes on. They do this in all types of music so we aren’t restricted to pop/ hip hop and all of the hard work is already done for us.
So I googled how to spell wanka and found this
