HOUSTON (CBS Houston) Houston police found the charred remains of a woman behind a northeast Houston laundromat Friday morning and are seeking answers.

According to reports, the woman’s body was discovered after authorities received a 911 call reporting a fire burning in the 1300 block of Lorraine Street just before 7 a.m.

Houston firefighters initially thought it was just a pile of rubbish on fire; however, after they extinguished the blaze, they discovered the woman’s remains.

Arson investigators and K-9 units arrived on the scene to provide assistance. Officials stated that it appears that she was killed somewhere else, then brought behind the laundromat and set on fire. Anyone with information that can help Houston Police in the case, is being urged to call them.
