HOUSTON (CBS Houston) Two teenagers have been arrested in connection with a several arson cases in the Memorial area.
One of the teens is reportedly 18-years-old while the other is 15. According to authorities, the pair was taken into custody overnight Tuesday after the collaborative efforts of HFD arson investigators and Spring Branch ISD police.
Back in early February, HFD and Crime Stoppers announced they were looking for the arsonist(s) responsible for setting several fires. The fires were set in dumpsters as well as apartment buildings from December 2012 through January.
The fires that were set at apartment buildings were set in stairwells and blocked escape routes for residents to evacuate.
Additional reports indicate that of the fires set, one was set on one of the baseball fields behind Spring Forest Middle School and the other in a dumpster at Thornwood Elementary School. There were no injuries reported in any of the arson cases.
Upon a thorough investigation, authorities were able to track the teens down. The 18-year-old suspect reportedly dropped out of Stratford High School, while the 15-year-old suspect was also a Stratford student until he was moved to an alternative school.
