EL PASO, Texas (AP) — Two West Texas brothers have been rescued from 50-foot deep water retention pipe where the boys became stranded after using homemade devices to rappel to the bottom.
The El Paso Fire Department says the boys — ages 13 and 14 — were not injured during Sunday afternoon’s incident.
Authorities say the pipe had no water in it when four brothers decided to attempt to rappel down to the base. Investigators say two siblings made it to the bottom but then realized they could not get out on their own.
The other two brothers at the top of the water reserve area then summoned help.
Names of the four siblings haven’t been released.
