HISD: ‘Bus Driver Temporarily Removed’ From Duties Following Accident
HOUSTON (CBS Houston) An accident involving a Houston Independent School buss and a sedan Friday morning, killed one driver, sent one student to the hospital and injured others. Three students were being transported to Scarborough High School at the time of the wreck.
According to HISD, the accident happened at the intersection of Braeburn Valley and Beechnut Friday morning around 6:30 a.m.
The driver of a small sedan died after crashing into the school bus, according to police.
“One female student was taken to the hospital, where doctors are evaluating her injuries, which are not considered life threatening”, stated officials with HISD.
Further reports from HISD indicated that the other two students were evaluated by paramedics at the scene and released.
“Upon arrival at Scarborough, one male student complained of leg pain, and is being evaluated,” added authorities from HISD.
In efforts to follow standard procedure, following major accidents, the bus driver was temporarily removed from his driving duties.
The Houston Police Department is currently investigating the case.
