HOUSTON (CBS Houston) A woman was mugged and shot outside of a fitness center located in Harris County Wednesday evening.

The crime happened shortly after 9 p.m. at the 24-Hour Fitness located on FM 1960 and Veterans Memorial. The woman was leaving the gym and walking toward her car.

It was then that someone in a car pulled up to her. According to Harris County deputies, a man armed with a gun, shot the woman once.

The suspect then took the woman’s purse then shot her on the side.

The victim was then rushed to Ben Taub Hospital in stable condition. One report indicated that the woman suffered a punctured lung as a result of her gun shot wounds.

As officials continue to investigate the case, they do know that the man fled in a silver Honda Civic. No description of the man was released at the time of this report.
