HOUSTON (CBS Houston) A teacher who was presenting a history lesson to students is accused of lassoing the neck of a student.
According to reports, a history teacher from the Garland Independent School District was teaching lasso techniques used during cattle drives this week. It was then time for the student volunteer portion of the lesson and a 13-year-old student volunteered. However, that pre-teen student ended up with bruises on his neck.
Upon launching an investigation into the incident, officials with the Garland ISD suspended the history teacher as a precautionary measure.
It is possible that criminal charges could be filed against the teacher.
The teacher who was not identified, reportedly felt sorry about the incident and agreed never to teach cattle driving with a lasso in class again.
Additional reports indicate that the pre-teen was at home recovering from bruises.
