HPD: Two Suspects Arrested, Charged In Fatal Shooting
HOUSTON (CBS Houston) According to officials with the Houston Police Department, two individuals were arrested with a fatal shooting.
According to HPD, 21-year-old Eric Sorto and 19-year-old Mauro Reyna were arrested for the fatal shooting of Daniel Rivera, Jr.
HPD Homicide Division provided additional details of the crime: “HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting call at 4775 Beechaven Drive. When officers arrived, witnesses who lived there told them someone had broken into their home and shot Mr. Rivera while he was in his bed. HFD paramedics responded to the scene and transported Rivera to the hospital where he died. Witnesses also told investigators they heard gunshots and when they came out of their bedroom, they were confronted by a Hispanic male suspect with a gun. The suspect pointed the gun at the female witness and then fled the scene.”
Rivera suffered gunshot wounds and died at Ben Taub General Hospital.
“Further investigation and witness statements identified Sorto (the shooter) and Reyna as the suspects in this case. Both suspects remain in custody in the Fort Bend County Jail,” added HPD officials.
