Texans defensive tackle Shaun Cody underwent spinal surgery and was released from a Los Angeles hospital on Thursday.
Cody suffered a back injury during preseason, but was able to fight through the pain playing in 13 games, including 12 starts. John McClain of Houston Chronicle reported that Cody underwent a “microscopic lumbar discectomy surgery for a lumbar disc herniation.”
The surgery was performed on Jan. 29.
Set to become a free agent in March, Cody, 30, future with the Houston Texans is uncertain at this time.
Meanwhile, the Texans nose tackle joins linebacker Brian Cushingis on the Texans’ recovery list. Cody is in the early stages of the rehabilitation process to determine when he’ll be able to return.
