Tip Leads To Arrest Of Suspect In Connection With Murder

HOUSTON (CBS Houston) According to officials with the Houston Police Department, a suspect has been arrested in connection with the murder of a woman found dead at T.C. Jester Park.

HPD stated that 30-year-old Jessie Blanco was apprehended and charged with the murder of of Melissa Chavez, 28.

Officials with HPD’s Homicide Division released the following details about the crime: “Ms. Chavez was discovered in T.C. Jester Park at the above address. Officers discovered she and Blanco were involved in a dispute in which Blanco physically assaulted Chavez. Blanco struck Chavez with his vehicle numerous times and then fled in his vehicle, a white Pontiac Vibe. Chavez was pronounced dead at the scene.”

HPD further stated that it was an anonymous tip that led to the arrest of Blanco. Chavez’s body was found around 3 a.m. Monday at T.C. Jester Park located on T.C. Jester. Her murder was captured on video by a surveillance camera mounted on a nearby home; the video provided officials with graphic yet detailed information of her murder. Based upon preliminary viewing of the camera, it appears that Chavez was struck by a car in what police suspect was a domestic dispute.
