HOUSTON (CBS Houston) At least 18 people were injured Thursday morning when smoke filled a school bus.

According to reports, the Atascocita volunteer firefighters stated that the incident happened on Charles Street in Humble just before 8:30 a.m. Humble police said transmission fluid on a Northwest Preparatory school bus leaked onto the engine causing heavy smoke.

Several individuals were taken to Memorial Hermann Northeast Hospital with conditions that were not released at the time of this report. Officials did state that many of those treated were children ranging in age from five to 12 years old.
