HOUSTON (CBS Houston) Bellaire High School students saw and felt an increased presence of law enforcement officials Friday morning after an alleged threat.

According to officials with HISD, a”vague threat” was received in reference to Bellaire High; as a result, increased police and patrols were on the campus as a precautionary measure. The school was not on lock down.

Because of the threat, many parents removed their children from school Friday. School officials with Bellaire High assured parents as well as guardians that the campus was safe and secure.

Although nothing substantial was found on the school grounds in reference to a threat, officials and authorities said that every threat is taken seriously and precautionary measures are taken to ensure the safety and well being of all students and faculty members.

Teachers reportedly did not allow students to roam the halls, but classes went on as scheduled.
