A member of hip hop royalty will take it to the couch in a tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey. In her series “Oprah’s Next Chapter”, Winfrey discusses life, career and much more with James Todd Smith, better known as L.L. Cool J.

During his interview, Smith talks about being abused as a child as well as his long career as a hip hop artist and his marriage.

In his 1998 autobiography I Make My Own Rules, Smith writes of a family friend who lived with his mother and beat him.

The two-time GRAMMY Award-winner and NAACP Image Award winner is currently the star of CBS’ “NCIS: Los Angeles.”

The full episode Smith’s interview will air this Sunday at 9 p.m. on OWN.
