HOUSTON (CBS Houston) A father is accused of intentionally killing his daughter’s small dog.
According to reports, Jose Luis Quintero, 42, has been charged with cruelty to non-livestock animals after allegedly walking into his daughter’s bedroom, grabbing his daughter’s Chihuahua, abusing it and then throwing it to its death.
Authorities stated that Quintero took the dog into a bathroom and abused it. His daughter was not sure if her dog was alright so she notified her mother of her dad’s behavior in the bathroom and she and her mother went to a neighbor’s house to call police. Upon returning home, the mother and daughter discovered that the dog had been buried in their front yard.
Quintero who reportedly admitted to grabbing and throwing the dog, is being held in the Harris County Jail with bond set at $10,000. Further reports state that he did not intend to kill the small dog.
Chihuahuas are the smallest breed of dog and are named for the state of Chihuahua in Mexico. Generally, the height of a Chihuahua ranges between six and ten inches. Some of the dogs grow as tall as 12 to 15 inches (or 30 to 38 centimeters).
