HOUSTON (CBS Houston) GRAMMY-award winning bassist Christian McBride is scheduled to perform in Houston in what promises to be an exuberant performance with his ensemble, “Inside Straight”.

According to McBride, his upcoming performance in Houston next month will mark his first trip to Houston as a bandleader since 1999. McBride has also performed in Houston with most notably Pat Metheny  and the “Pat Metheny Trio” as well as world-renowned pianist and musician Chick Corea. In 2010, McBride was a special guest to the incomparable  “Jeff “Tain” Watts’” group.

McBride, a three-time GRAMMY winner, won his most recent GRAMMY for the project titled, “The Good Feeling” in 2012.

He has also performed with notable musicians including: Sting, Freddie Hubbard, Joe Henderson, McCoy Tyner, Roy Haynes, John McLaughlin, Wynton Marsalis, Branford Marsalis, Joshua Redman, Herbie Hancock and Diana Krall.

A Philadelphia native, McBride is often praised for having accomplished a spectrum of musical achievements before his 40th birthday. Having hit the milestone, McBride states that performing is both exhilarating and invigorating. He looks forward to providing fans in Houston one memorable show next month: “Houston has always been one of my favorite cities. I always look forward to the warm, friendly, soulful energy of the Houston crowd”, McBride told CBS Radio Houston.

Known as a phenomenon of jazz and music, McBride plays both the classic upright bass, as well as the electric bass.
